WHY I BUILT GOLF IS HARD

The golf ended. The math didn't.

So I built the app I wanted our group to have before the next tee time.

THE STORY

Built for the person holding the scorecard.

I built Golf Is Hard because our rounds kept ending the same way: one paper scorecard, a handful of side games, and a group standing around trying to remember every skin, press, and carry. The golf was done, but the math was not.

I'm a designer, business owner, and weekend golfer. For years I have been the person setting up games, tee times, tournaments, and golf trips for friends. I wanted one place that worked the way our group already plays: one phone can score the foursome, every golfer can join free, and the app shows who owes what before we leave the parking lot. Nobody should have to download another app, open a spreadsheet, or reconstruct a Saturday match from memory just to get the group paid.

That idea grew into Golf Is Hard. It brings live scoring, handicap-aware games, payout tracking, tournaments, community tools, course scorecards, and multi-day trip planning together. It tracks the score and settlement math; it never holds the wager money or takes a cut.

I still build it around real rounds and real feedback from golfers who organize their groups. The goal is simple: keep the competition, lose the notebook math, and make the next round easier to run. Golf is hard enough. Organizing it should not be.

01

Players join free.

The host pays for the clipboard. The rest of the group can join and score without a membership.

02

Your wagers stay yours.

Golf Is Hard tracks balances and payouts. It never holds the money or takes a percentage.

03

Built around the group.

Rounds, games, tournaments, trips, and buddies stay connected instead of living in separate group texts.
