GolfIsHard (“GolfIsHard,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information may be collected, used, stored, and shared when you use GolfIsHard.app, including our website, application, features, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
By using GolfIsHard, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
01 Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you use GolfIsHard and which features you choose to use.
Account Information
If you create an account, we may collect information such as:
- Name
- Username or display name
- Email address
- Profile information
- Profile photo
- Account login and authentication information
If you sign in using a third-party service, such as Apple or Google, we may receive information that you authorize that provider to share with us.
Golf Activity and User-Provided Information
When using GolfIsHard, you may choose to provide golf-related information, including:
- Golf scores
- Rounds played
- Course information
- Player or group information
- Statistics
- Handicap-related information
- Challenges or competitions
- Leaderboard activity
- Other information you voluntarily submit through the Service
Optional Round Contacts
A signed-in golfer may optionally save a mobile number on the Profile screen for scorecard autofill. A round host may also enter a player's mobile number or email address to prepare an individual result-text or email draft. The profile phone stays on the golfer's device, and scorecard contacts stay in the host device's browser storage. They are not uploaded to GolfIsHard servers and are not displayed on the public round link, public profiles, or leaderboards. The host chooses each recipient and sends the draft through the device's own messaging or email app.
Golf Buddies and Private Messages
Signed-in golfers may search for other golfer profiles by display name, send and accept buddy requests, organize accepted buddies into private groups, exchange in-app messages, and send round invitations. Buddy searches show only golfer-profile information such as display name, handicap, profile photo, bio, and home course. Account email addresses, phone numbers, billing information, and payment details are not displayed in the buddy directory.
Buddy connections, groups, and direct messages are available only to the participating signed-in golfers. Users may remove a buddy at any time. Messages may include a live round code and link when a golfer chooses to send an invitation.
Tee Time Scheduler
Signed-in golfers may create a tee-time plan containing a golf course, date, time, player limit, notes, invited Golf Buddies, responses, and waitlist position. These plans are visible only to the host and the host's accepted Golf Buddies. Golf Is Hard uses this information to organize the group, show in-app reminders, promote the next waitlisted golfer when a spot opens, and prepare the confirmed roster for a live round.
The Tee Time Scheduler is an organizational feature. It does not reserve a tee time, contact the course, process a purchase, or guarantee course availability.
Tournament Sign-Up Sheets
A tournament organizer may publish a sign-up sheet containing the event name, course, date and time, format, capacity, registration deadline, and organizer notes. A signed-in golfer who registers provides the organizer with the display name, account email, handicap, sign-up status, and roster or waitlist position associated with that golfer's profile.
The organizer can view the registration roster and waitlist. Other golfers do not receive access to the full registration list or its email addresses. A golfer may withdraw while the sign-up sheet remains available, and Golf Is Hard may automatically promote the next waitlisted golfer when a space opens.
Feedback and Support
You may send feedback without creating a profile. A feedback submission may include your selected category, message, current app screen, app page, and any active round code. Guests may add an optional reply email. If you are signed in, the submission is associated with your account and includes your profile name and account email so we can respond and understand the context.
We also use a short-lived, one-way identifier derived from account or connection information to rate-limit submissions and protect the feedback form from automated abuse.
Device and Usage Information
When you use GolfIsHard, certain technical information may be collected automatically, including:
- Device type
- Browser type
- Operating system
- IP address
- App or website activity
- Pages and features used
- Approximate location derived from technical information
- Error and diagnostic information
This information may be used to maintain, secure, analyze, and improve GolfIsHard.
During an unfinished live round, GolfIsHard stores a protected scorecard copy and any unsent score changes in that device's browser storage. The copy is used to recover the round and sync changes after connectivity returns. It is removed when the round is finished or the user leaves the round on that device. Signed-in reliability events use general event categories and counts; they do not include golfer names, emails, round codes, score values, or error stack traces.
Location Information
Certain GolfIsHard features may use location information, for example, to identify nearby golf courses or provide location-based functionality.
If precise device location is required, we will request permission through your device or operating system where required.
You can control location permissions through your device settings.
02 How We Use Information
We may use information collected through GolfIsHard to:
- Create and maintain user accounts;
- Provide GolfIsHard features and functionality;
- Record and display golf activity, scores, statistics, or leaderboards;
- Personalize the user experience;
- Communicate with users about their accounts or the Service;
- Provide customer support;
- Review and respond to feedback and improve the Service;
- Maintain the security and integrity of GolfIsHard;
- Detect fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service;
- Diagnose technical problems;
- Analyze how the Service is used;
- Develop and improve GolfIsHard; and
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
We do not use personal information for purposes materially different from those described in this Privacy Policy without providing appropriate notice or obtaining consent when required.
03 Money Transfers and Transactions Between Users
GolfIsHard does not process, hold, receive, transmit, transfer, or manage money on behalf of users in connection with user-to-user payments.
GolfIsHard may provide features that allow users to record, calculate, display, or keep track of amounts associated with a golf game, challenge, competition, wager, settlement, or other activity. Any amounts shown within GolfIsHard are provided for informational and record-keeping purposes only.
GolfIsHard is not a payment processor, bank, financial institution, escrow service, money transmitter, or digital wallet.
If users choose to exchange or settle money with one another, that transaction occurs independently of GolfIsHard. Users are solely responsible for deciding whether, how, and through what third-party service or method any payment is made.
GolfIsHard does not take possession of those funds and is not responsible for:
- Collecting money from another user;
- Sending or receiving payments between users;
- Ensuring that another user pays an amount shown in the app;
- Resolving payment disputes between users;
- Refunds or chargebacks involving third-party payment services;
- Errors made when users send money outside GolfIsHard; or
- The security, availability, or policies of third-party payment services.
Users are responsible for complying with applicable laws and regulations concerning any transactions they independently choose to conduct.
04 Payment Information
GolfIsHard does not collect or store users' bank account numbers, debit card numbers, credit card numbers, or third-party payment account credentials for the purpose of transferring money between users.
Stripe processes payments for optional GolfIsHard Pro memberships. GolfIsHard does not receive or store the full card number or card security code entered in Stripe Checkout.
We store the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, selected plan, membership status, trial and billing-period dates, cancellation state, owner-provided complimentary access or discount eligibility, and related event identifiers needed to provide Pro access and customer support. Payment information is otherwise handled according to Stripe's privacy policy and terms.
06 Information Visible to Other Users
Certain GolfIsHard features may involve information that is visible to other users.
Depending on the features you use and your privacy settings, this could include:
- Display name
- Profile photo
- Golf scores
- Statistics
- Leaderboard positions
- Challenge or competition results
- Group or game information
You should avoid submitting information that you do not want shared with other participants where a feature is designed to be social or collaborative.
07 Cookies and Similar Technologies
GolfIsHard and our service providers may use cookies, local storage, software development kits, or similar technologies to operate and improve the Service.
These technologies may help us:
- Keep users signed in;
- Remember preferences;
- Understand how features are used;
- Diagnose technical problems; and
- Protect the Service from abuse.

08 Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide GolfIsHard, maintain user accounts, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and why it was collected.
Feedback submissions are retained as reasonably necessary to review, respond, improve the Service, prevent abuse, and keep a support record. You may request deletion using the contact information below.
Optional round contact numbers remain on the host device until the host removes the saved numbers, leaves that round on the device, or clears browser storage.
09 Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information collected through GolfIsHard.
However, no website, application, database, or electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You use the Service and provide information at your own risk.
You are also responsible for protecting your account credentials and maintaining the security of devices you use to access GolfIsHard.
10 Your Privacy Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning your personal information.
These may include the right to:
- Request access to certain personal information;
- Request correction of inaccurate information;
- Request deletion of certain information;
- Obtain information about how your information is used or disclosed; or

GolfIsHard is not intended for children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

12 Third-Party Services
GolfIsHard may contain links to or integrate with third-party websites, golf services, mapping providers, authentication providers, analytics providers, or other services.

Your use of a third-party service is governed by that provider's own terms and privacy policy.
This includes any third-party payment application or service that users independently choose to use to settle amounts with one another.
13 Legal and Regulatory Responsibility for User Transactions
GolfIsHard does not provide financial, banking, payment-processing, gambling, or legal services.
Users are responsible for determining whether their activities, including any competition, game, wager, prize, or transfer of money, are permitted under the laws applicable to them.
The inclusion of scorekeeping, challenge, calculation, tracking, or settlement-related functionality within GolfIsHard does not constitute GolfIsHard's participation in or endorsement of any financial transaction or activity between users.

We may update this Privacy Policy as GolfIsHard evolves.
When material changes are made, we may provide notice through the Service, by email, or by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Policy.
